Shield has an antique finish with very fine detail. Achilles Shield, the one used by the hero to fight Hector, as told in Homer's'Illiad'. Achilles had lent his armour to his close friend Patroclus, who was killed in battle with Hector. The shield consists of constellations and microcosm of civilization and depicts a series of images of conflicts in life.

Homer goes into great detail on what the shield looked like. He described the center as being filled with The Earth, sky and sea, the sun, the moon and the twelve constellations, Around that was depicted two city scenes, one of a legal trial, the other of a military siege. Around that was another ring filled with scenes of life, both urban and rural.
