The New York Bank Hoard. 2018 Somalia 1 Kilo Silver Elephant Sh2,000 Coin NGC MS70 ER SKU51589. The African Wildlife Elephant series has been produced by the Bavarian State Mint, located in Munich, Germany, since first introduced for release by Zambia in 1999.

Struck for issue by Somalia since 2004, the series remains popular among collectors for the annual variation in reverse design. This 2018 African Elephant release is struck from 32.15 Troy oz. 9999 fine silver, measuring an astounding 100.3 mm in diameter and 13.2 mm in thickness. The reverse features a close-up view of an adult elephant, with its magnificent trunk and tusks extending beyond the circular border of the image. The design includes a leafless tree and birds in the background.

Inscribed "AFRICAN WILDLIFE, " "ELEPHANT" and 1 KG AG 999.9. The Somali Republic coat of arms adorns the obverse, depicting two leopards rampant balanced on crossed spears holding a shield embellished with a star between them.

The image is framed by a beaded border accompanied by the inscriptions "SOMALI REPUBLIC, " "2018" and 2,000 SHILLINGS. Early Releases Mint State 70.
