The reverse designed by Stuart Devlin depicts all 28 sports of the games and the Sydney 2000 Olympic Logo in colour.

The obverse design is the stunning portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank Broadley. The top half of the coin is edge-lettered with the words GAMES OF THE XXVII OLYMPIAD and the lower half carries the edge-lettering 1 KILO 999 SILVER.
